As a bit of a foodie I have made it my mission to try and find the best local food in East Norfolk for you to sample whilst on holiday. There are some real food treasures hiding away in East Norfolk, not least our lovely Norfolk asparagus. Below are some top tips for where to find great food on your stay.
About 3 miles from the Barns there is a fantastic traditional butcher, own smoked bacon, ham pies and sausages and local veg, honey etc. Pig meat all outdoor reared. He will accept telephone orders for guests to pick up on arrival.
Dabs n Crabs -Fishmongers
Great little fish shop selling fish and shellfish often caught on properties boat so it is often seasonal and lower impact. If you want seasonal, fresh and line caught fish this is the place to come.
Local Fruit and Veg
In the summer we hope our allotment will be bountiful. You can get great local veg at The Tacons farm shop. They sell a variery of fruit and vegetables but specialise in Norfolk asparagus and their own grown Norfolk strawberries. They also sell some soft cheeses that are really worth a try.
Stocking foods within a 35 miles radius of this shop in Stalham Truly Local has local cheese, milk & butter, honey, fruit, vegetables and salads, traditionally made bread and pies, organic flour, free range hen, duck and goose eggs & poultry, fish & crabs, traditionally reared pork, lamb & beef and game.
